BASF will publish carbon footprints for 45,000 products
BASF will release data on the carbon footprints of its entire portfolio of approximately 45,000 products by the end of 2021, as it seeks to help customers measure and reduce emissions through the supply chain.
The chemicals major says the calculated footprints for each product will include emissions that occur up until the product leaves its factory gate, including the required raw materials that are needed for its manufacturing and the energy used in the production processes.
Novamont launches iPhone game app to teach kids about food waste recycling
Bioplastics manufacturer Novamont has launched a new iPad and iPhone app to helps teach kids how to sort food waste using compostable bags. Users of the ‘Food Scrap Recycling Truck’ can drive a recycling truck as it passes through the neighbourhood to collect food scraps for composting and sort it into compostable bags, separated from other recycling items on the moving kitchen top conveyor.
Aimplas coordinates very successful BIOnTop project
The European project BIOnTop has achieved “promising results” in its development of recyclable and reusable packaging. The EU-funded project is led by Aimplas, a Spanish plastics technology company based in Valencia. At the end of the first year of a four-year long project, BIOnTop conducted experimental work on copolymers and compounds with customized biodegradability and multifunctional coating solutions with customized properties. The end-goal is to develop competitive, low-cost packaging solutions that align with current EU legislation’s move toward plastic pollution reduction.
