TÜV Austria to be platinum sponsor of 15th European Bioplastics Conference
European Bioplastics (EUBP) is happy to announce the TÜV Austria Group as platinum sponsor of our 15th EUBP Conference (30 Nov – 3 Dec 2020), which will be held virtually. Our EUBP member brings safety, quality, innovation, environmental protection and business interests to a common denominator. TÜV Austria’s client portfolio ranges from industrial enterprises, commercial and craft businesses to health care and municipal services to scientific and research institutions. The OK compost certificate is one of TÜV Austria’s most successful and well-known certificates which now has been on the market for over 25 years. This is a very good reason to celebrate at our conference, the world’s leading international business forum for the bioplastics industry which provides the excellent platform.
Sulzer Chemtech develops new technology to enable production of new PLA grades
The recent development of new polymerization methods that allow the economical production of polylactic acid (PLA) with higher molecular weight has effectively removed many of the limiting factors on its use, opening-up a greatly expanded application base for the plant-based bioplastic. Technology by Sulzer Chemtech is included in almost all PLA plants worldwide, and while not an instant fix—the timing for Sulzer to develop a flexible and robust technology to enable the production of various new PLA grades, could not be more prescient.
Neste, Recycling Technologies, and Unilever combine expertise for chemical recycling of waste plastics
Recycling Technologies, a specialist plastic recycling technology provider; Neste, the world’s leading provider of renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel, and a forerunner in drop-in renewable and circular chemical solutions; and Unilever, the consumer goods manufacturer of leading global brands, will collaborate to further develop and harness chemical recycling. Their aim is to recover and reuse plastic packaging that is currently either incinerated, buried in landfill or exported from the UK. A joint project involving these three companies has been awarded a £3.1m grant from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to develop chemical recycling by combining the expertise of these global leaders in their respective business areas to make hard-to-recycle plastic packaging recyclable.
