Berlin, 27 November 2023 – EUBP reveals the speaker line-up of the 2023 edition of EBC, the leading business and networking event for the bioplastics industry in Europe. On 12-13 December in Berlin and online, experts and researchers in the bioplastics sector will be presenting the latest development and market updates of bioplastics.

EBC (European Bioplastics Conference) is the annual event for the bioplastics industry, bringing together hundreds of stakeholders including policy makers, researchers, and experts in the field. The 2023 conference presents a wide variety of topics ranging from bioplastics policy landscape to innovation, from sustainable sourcing to circular economy, and many more.

This year’s policy session will be opened by Silvia Maltagliati, Policy Officer in the Circular Economy & Biobased Systems Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. Rhodes Yepsen, Executive Director at BPI, will focus on a wider scope and highlight the new trends in policy and market updates in the US and Canada. The session will also feature Nicolas Hark, Senior Specialist at nova-Institute to share how the EU feels about bioplastics, Marieke Brouwer, Researcher Sustainable Packaging & Recycling at Wageningen University & Research to present on sustainability assessment of different types of coffee capsules, and Burkhard Ohs, Manager Long-Term Development at Neste and Sophie Herrmann, Partner and Managing Director at Systemiq Germany to share insights on the chemical industry as a carbon steward.

On 13 December, Dr. Heidi Peltola, Head of Research and Development at Sulapac Ltd, and Andrea Vittadello, Sustainability Project Manager at Merieux NutriScience, will discuss how to transform packaging into a sustainable solution for the industry referring to cosmetics and food standards.
