EUBP Talk: Series wrap-up

Alternative feedstock for biobased plastics: bridging the gap between research and market

We are pleased to invite you to the final live event of this series, a workshop, entitled, “Alternative feedstock for biobased plastics: bridging the gap between research and market, with a focus on alternative sustainable feedstock sources for biobased plastics. Our workshop will be held on 16 October 2024 at EUBP premises in Brussels, Avenue Palmerston 3. It is an in-person event. After a focus session on the latest key results in research and innovation in the field by EU –funded project experts, we will have a panel discussion exploring the existing barriers and necessary policy incentives to scale up the latest results of research and innovation to industrial production.

Date and time: 16th October 2024, from 4 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by a networking dinner.

The European Union has the aspiration to have at least 20% of the carbon used in chemical and plastic products from sustainable non-fossil sources by 2030. This provides an incredible opportunity for the upscaling of alternative feedstock uses for bioplastics.

In this respect, we organized five successful EUBP Talks on alternative feedstock, where a member of the research and innovation community explored a case study of alternative feedstock uses, explaining the successes and bottlenecks.

We are happy to announce our speakers and our panellists:

The speakers:

  • Rafael Jiménez Lorenzo, AIMPLAS
  • Dr. Joachim Venus, Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Bio-economy e.V. (ATB), partner of the PERCAL and CAFIPLA  projects
  • Dr. Tanja Meyer, Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, coordinator of the LUCRA project
  • Dr. Miriam Lorenzo Navarro, ITENE, coordinator of the MoeBIOS project

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion including:

  • Tsjerk Terpstra, DG AGRI
  • Silvia Maltagliati, DG RTD
  • Fredrik Malmfors, Lignin Industries
  • Sara Guerrini, Novamont
  • Joan Marc Simon, ZeroWaste Europe
