FNR project call: Bio-based plastic packaging for food

The Renewable Resources Agency (FNR) in Germany has published a new project call with the aim to support research and development projects in the area of Bio-based plastic packaging for food. The call is part of FNR’s Renewable raw materials framework programme and the full details are available here.

The call is a reaction to the positive results and recommendations of a study on bio-based plastics as packaging of food, commissioned by the FNR and conducted by Fraunhofer IVV, narocon Consulting, and ifeu Institute (download here, German only), which confirmed that bio-based plastics are especially suitable as packaging of food and have significant but as yet unused potential in this field.

The call focusses specifically on the areas of product development, recyclability, low-migration-based organic additives, and diffusion properties. The submission deadlines are on 31st January 2019 (concept development) and on 3rd March 2019 (industrial collaborative research).

Please contact us if you have questions about this Newsflash, or get in touch directly with FNR here if you would like to find out more about the call.

Do not hesitate to contact us, if you have questions about this newsflash.
