Invitation: Join us for the third EUBP Talk of our webinar series on Alternative Feedstock 

Dear Sir or Madam,

After two successful editions of our EUBP Talk series, we are continuing this series focused on alternative sustainable feedstock sources for bioplastics.

For our third EUBP Talk on “From brewery waste to bioplastics: results of the BioSupPack project on new value chains for innovative and sustainable packaging”, Rosa González Leyba, non-food packaging group leader at AIMPLAS, will focus on the valorisation of both by-products from the agri-food industry and different types of waste for PHA and PHB production.

The BioSupPack project aims at upscaling new, economically convenient and highly performing bio-based rigid packaging solutions based on PHA, also suitable for being recycled and recovered. The project is exploring, at lab-scale, pilot level and then at large scale, the possibility of using brewery industry by-products (brewer’s spent grains) as a fermentation feedstock for PHB production. The BBI-JU funded project will ultimately contribute to the creation of a new bio-cluster/value chain connecting several sectors (i.e. agri-food, bioplastics, pulp and paper, and packaging).

This session aims to foster informal discussion and is a great opportunity for industry and researchers to gather in a relaxed setting and exchange ideas on this important subject.
